We have reached an inflection point. The World Health Organisation (“WHO”) have declared the spread of Coronavirus disease 2019 (“COVID-19″) a pandemic. In doing so, they have acknowledged the possibility of the virus spreading to all countries on the globe.

Such circumstances demand that we at Breca take action. Prudently. Sensibly. And to deliver the duty of care we owe to our community, team, friends and families. With this in mind, we have decided that Breca Bay of Islands will not take place in April.

We are working on rescheduling the event to the end of the year. For our participants, we will share more information with you as soon as we can. This moment places a significant workload on the Breca team, so we would be very grateful if you could limit contact with our customer care team to essential messages only.

The team and I continue to work on delivering the wonderful challenges and adventures which are the hallmarks of the Breca experience. We will do so as this crisis unfolds. We will continue to do so long after it has passed. And pass it will. In the words of Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the WHO: “We have never seen a pandemic that cannot be controlled”.

A brilliant tomorrow will come. I look forward to sharing it together on the start line.

All the best,

Ben and the Breca team
