IronMan launches world swimrun series with finals in Kona

Ever dreamed about going to Kona for the IronMan WC, but failed due to stiff competition? Well, you’re about have a second chance and now through swimrunning.

For some time now, we’ve overheard repeated rumours being echoed in both the international swimming and triathlon circles, that Ironman is close to unveiling their new world swimrun series. It’s supposed to be presented close to their 40th IRONMAN World Championship taking place in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii in October, along with several other big announcements. Triathlon’s most iconic event will now bring more athletes together, also on the world swimrun stage.

If our info is correct, they will start hosting both team and individual races, on all continents in 2019, in liaison with their ongoing 70.3 series.
After that, who knows what they have in store for us?

Time to bring out the tanning oil and book a flight to Kona, but this time without the excessive bike luggage!
